Oil Paintings

Several years ago I felt a yen to try oil painting again after avoiding it for many years. This coincided with the election of Bush and with the many troubles brought about by his reign. The oil paint seemed darker and moodier than did the egg tempera that I had been using. It seemed to deal more with value, with dark and light, than it did with color. It seemed more expressive of my feelings which were also darker.

We all lived through some terrible times, with war, natural disaster and political shenanigans. As I write this we are still experiencing the tsunami that followed those events. I’m not sure where my paintings will go from here. I always count on them to lead me.
